Chi siamo

IMAGO was founded in 1988 in the heart of Perugia, thanks to the passion and commitment of Stefania Marcagnani and Fabrizio Ricci. Initially conceived as a space dedicated to the sale of art reproductions and artist posters, over the years it became a local point of reference for accessible beauty.

In 2013, driven by an increasingly deep interest in contemporary art, Stefania and Fabrizio chose to open a fully fledged gallery, consolidating IMAGO as an active presence in the promotion of artistic research in the city. Since then, the gallery has worked mainly with emerging and mid-career Italian and international artists, offering them a space for visibility and the appreciation of their talent. Its mission is to make contemporary art accessible as a living, everyday experience, open both to collectors and to those approaching it for the first time. With the belief that surrounding ourselves with art can stir thought and broaden our gaze, improving our lives.

Alongside its gallery activity, IMAGO creates exhibitions, cultural projects and events within its own spaces and in institutional and private contexts, while also promoting visits and meetings in artists’ studios. These opportunities for dialogue are designed to explore their expressive languages in greater depth and contribute to the growth and recognition of their artistic paths.

Out of the desire to expand this dimension of research and dialogue with the public, DUE – Spazio del Contemporaneo was born in 2025. It is both a project and a space dedicated to encounters between the visual arts and different artistic practices, to experimentation and to the creation of new cultural paths. Art historian Anna Ricci collaborates on the direction of the project, contributing to the development of a space open to dialogue between different artistic languages, interdisciplinary research and the active participation of the public.
