Miljenko Bengez (Zagreb, 1954) began his artistic career in the 1980s, refining his skills under the guidance of Vilim Svečnjak and later in Florence, where he specialised in the restoration of paintings on canvas at the Lorenzo de' Medici Institute. Since his first solo exhibition in Ljubljana in 1987, Miljenko Bengez has developed an extensive international exhibition career, holding more than ninety solo exhibitions across Europe and the United States. His works have been exhibited at prestigious venues in Croatia, Italy, the United States, France, Slovenia, Turkey, and Austria. Among the most significant milestones in his career is the international project *Mediterranean Connection* (2019–2020), promoted by the Consulate of the Republic of Croatia in Istanbul with the support of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. In recent years (2023–2026), he has continued his exhibition activity with shows in Ljubljana, Zagreb, Ravello, and Gmunden, Austria, further consolidating the international scope of his artistic practice. His works are held in prestigious international collections. Since 1994, he has been a member of the HDLU, the Croatian Association of Visual Artists. Miljenko Bengez's artistic research unfolds through a figurative language deeply rooted in symbolism, in which geometric forms, colour, and expressive marks merge into a harmonious balance. Human figures, animals, and architectural elements emerge from dynamic compositions, giving life to visual universes suspended between reality and imagination. Through an intense and luminous palette, the artist constructs a poetic space in which every element becomes a metaphor for memory, travel, and transformation, inviting viewers to engage in an open and ever-evolving interpretation of his work.
